Recital 2019: Under the Big Top!
At the end of every spring semester, Pointe of Grace holds our annual dance recital at Tompkins High School. Each year recital takes on a different central theme that our shows music, costuming, and sets are revolved around. Our recital is open to our students age 2+ in styles of ballet, tap, jazz, contemporary, leaps & turns, acrobatics, pre-pointe/ pointe, and hip-hop. It is always a reward seeing how much our students have progressed and grown throughout the year. This show is a great time for all your family and friends to come out and enjoy a family friendly show by Pointe of Grace. All rehearsals for the show will take place during your child’s weekly class.

All students are automatically enrolled in recital for all classes they attend weekly and will be charged the costume fee per class.
(Combo classes only perform one of the styles- for the most part it is the opposite style from what they performed at Christmas show)
If there is an extenuating circumstance or conflict with the recital date please visit Ginger at the front desk to avoid recital charges.
Here at Pointe of Grace we strongly encourage participation in the dance recital. There are many known benefits to an end of the year recitals such as...
1- Building a sense of accomplishment: Your children have been working so hard all year and have been improving their technique, learning new skills, exploring movement concepts, and expanding on their musicality. Recital is a special time just for them to show off all of their hard work as their friends and family will be cheering them on!
2- Builds confidence: We have personally seen children overcome shyness, fear, and anxiety through the benefit of performing on a stage for an audience. According to Dance to Evolve, "as children experience getting on stage, performing for an audience, and being applauded for their efforts, they gain self-confidence that will carry with them in all aspects of school and life!"
3- Promotes teamwork: Your children have the opportunity to work towards a goal with their peers in their class. While students progress and develop their training at their own rate, recital provides encouragement and positive camaraderie as they effectively practice choreography and musicality in unison with their peers.
4- Sets goals: Dance to Evolve states, "athletes have tournaments and games, and dancers have recitals!" Your children will get to work weeks and months on their recital dances. They will learn new skills, concepts, and even stage directions with the end goal of a performance in mind. Your children will take pride in their dedication and hard work as all of their friends and family will be there to cheer them on.
What if my child cannot participate in recital, can they still remain enrolled in their class?
ABSOLUTELY! All children will learn the recital dance, whether or not they are participating in the performance on May 25th. The last week of classes, parents will be invited into class to watch the dance they have been working on. The process of learning a dance, combining skills, and exploring dance concepts within a dance are important cognitive skills for young dancers to learn. The journey and the lessons learned along the way are as important as arriving to the destination.
